“For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.” Mark 9:41

“And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42

To enable a community’s self-developing capabilities, 410 Bridge (410) connects U.S. churches with developing world communities to enhance community development in the areas of micro-enterprise, health & wellness, safe water, education, and discipleship. 410 has helped over a hundred communities become sustainable and serves nearly one million community residents.

410 works with water engineers and community leadership to determine a mutually agreeable, long-term, sustainable water solution for a community in need of safe water. First, the community donates or purchases small parcels of land for each component of the water system. It then has a bidding process with local contractors for the project. 410 funds and oversees, along with a strategic water partner, each phase of the project. A filtration system, pump, pump house, and tank are built and installed. It then connects a solar electrical source to the pump. Water is then distributed to additional access points to achieve the community’s access distance objective, usually that no person has to walk for more than one kilometer to get water. Lastly, 410 educates the community on how to use and store water. It currently works in Uganda, Kenya, and Haiti.

410’s water systems are projected to last a minimum of 15 years. The water systems not only provide clean water, which helps people stay healthy, it also greatly reduces the amount of time needed to gather water, allowing more time for income-generating activities.
